So like many, I have a vacation category that I regularly budget towards. However, I (happily) need to save for multiple vacations, let's call them trip A and trip B.
Is the best way to track my monthly budgeting towards Vacation category to actually have two temporary categories, one purposely for Trip A, and another for Trip B? This also allow me to figure out how much I need to put toward each Trip/month. Say if Trip A costs 500 and I go in 5 months, but Trip B costs 600 and I go in 12, I'd be able to see that 100/month goes to A, 50/month goes to B.
And then once I go on a vacation, I close the category down into hidden? It seems like this means that I'll end up with tons of hidden categories, which I suppose isn't a big deal but for some reason I don't like the idea of regularly retiring categories that aren't really retired (I always am saving towards some vacation).
